A Tribute to Prophet Kim Clement

Written by Raelynn Parkin, September 2001

Man of Honor, Man of Strength

Living in the arms of His Savior

Taken by hand, carving the path

Laying his life down for the nations

Heart of a servant, love for all

Crying the tears of His Savior

Dead to this life, but alive in Christ

Living out the Gospel before Heaven

We stand in Honor of this General

Who has risen to the Call of His Father

Counting the cost, trading his life

To capture the pearl of Great Price.

My friends, I feel a profound loss today, in the loss of Prophet Kim Clement. Though he did not know me, I knew him. In June 1999, when I was fresh coming out of my traditional background, a new friend of mine brought me to Quail Valley Church to a Kim Clement worship service. I didn’t even know who he was, but my heart was stirred, and I was undone. He got off the piano, and he came to the front and very strongly asked if there was anyone who wanted what he carried to come up front. I didn’t even know what he was really saying, but I ran up to the front, my husband was a bit shocked. And he laid hands on me and imparted to me a great gift. I have not yet fully unwrapped that gift, but I am grateful to have received it. It was like a father bestowing his blessing upon the sons and daughters. Please forgive, I don’t normally go on like this, but I wanted to pause with a thankful heart for the beautiful prophetic deposit he gave me, and to honor this spiritual father who has gone on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I know he has lived a difficult life and carved a lonely path at times, but I thank the Lord for this pioneer of Prophecy who selflessly laid down his life for the nations. God Bless you Kim Clement, much Peace and Love to your family and friends in their time of loss, and thank you…

The Principle of Honor

The Lord is very serious about honor! He has beautiful promises for those who choose to honor, but it is a choice.

16 “Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.  Deuteronomy 5:16

The first commandment is to honor the first ones God has given to you for your benefit, your parents.  I love that this commandment also contains a promise that you will live long. Have you ever wondered why some just enjoy long life, not just because they have a good genetic code, but because I believe they made a choice to honor the first authorities in their lives, their parents. This is not to say that all parents are good or godly in their parenting, or that your childhood was an easy one. You can still choose to honor, even when it is difficult or there is much to overcome. The second part of that promise is that it will go well with you. Through honor, even though your childhood experience was difficult, as you honor, God promises to honor you with a well lived life. The third part of that promise is about ownership, …”in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” Through honor, you may access inheritance, though not necessarily through your natural parents, your Father in Heaven will give you land ownership, maybe not physical, but spiritual inheritance! God is also establishing a precedent here in scripture not just for natural inheritance, but also for spiritual inheritance, through honor.

Let’s look at a couple more… the example of Elijah and Elisha.

2 When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal. 2 Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to Bethel.”
But Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel. 3 The company of the prophets at Bethel came out to Elisha and asked, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?” “Yes, I know,” Elisha replied, “so be quiet.”
4 Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, Elisha; the Lord has sent me to Jericho.”
And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Jericho. 5 The company of the prophets at Jericho went up to Elisha and asked him, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?”
“Yes, I know,” he replied, “so be quiet.”  6 Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.”  And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So the two of them walked on.
7 Fifty men from the company of the prophets went and stood at a distance, facing the place where Elijah and Elisha had stopped at the Jordan. 8 Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the water with it. The water divided to the right and to the left, and the two of them crossed over on dry ground.
9 When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”  “Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.  10 “You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah said, “yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours—otherwise, it will not.”
11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. 12 Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two.
13 Elisha then picked up Elijah’s cloak that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan. 14 He took the cloak that had fallen from Elijah and struck the water with it. “Where now is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” he asked. When he struck the water, it divided to the right and to the left, and he crossed over.  15 The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, “The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha.” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.       2 Kings 2:1-15

I was tempted to share only a couple of verses, but there is so much meat here for you to enjoy! At any time, Elisha who was probably younger and more sprightly, could have stolen the mantle of Elijah. But as he honored his spiritual mentor, teacher and father, God who was the only one who could truly bestow the double portion, granted his request!

Joshua honored Moses, and was chosen to lead the nation of Israel into their promised land. Jesus honored his Father.

19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. John 5:19

And so the Father honored the Son!

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”  15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3: 13-17

The Father honored the Son on Earth, and the Father honored Him in Heaven.

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2: 5-11

Those are the Blessings of Honor, which are too numerous to share here. There are also consequences to lack of Honor.  God also honors his authorities that he has placed in the earth.  When Aaron and Miriam dishonored Moses, in Numbers Chapter 12, literally undermining his authority, God backed his man, and Miriam suffered the consequences for her irreverance…

8b…Why then were you not afraid
to speak against my servant Moses?”
9 The anger of the Lord burned against them, and he left them.  10 When the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam’s skin was leprous—it became as white as snow. Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had a defiling skin disease,      Numbers 12:8b-10

Look at the example of Absalom trying to usurp the Kingship of David in 2 Samuel Chapters 15-18. David was anointed and appointed of God, but his son Absalom dishonored his own father by setting up his illegitimate Throne in place of King David (instead of receiving through inheritance), turning many men of Israel against him, and even seeking to kill his own Father.  It did not end well for Absalom…

9 Now Absalom happened to meet David’s men. He was riding his mule, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak, Absalom’s hair got caught in the tree. He was left hanging in midair, while the mule he was riding kept on going.  10 When one of the men saw what had happened, he told Joab, “I just saw Absalom hanging in an oak tree.”  14 Joab said, “I’m not going to wait like this for you.” So he took three javelins in his hand and plunged them into Absalom’s heart while Absalom was still alive in the oak tree. 15 And ten of Joab’s armor-bearers surrounded Absalom, struck him and killed him.                                      2 Samuel 18: 9-10, 14-15

You may say that this is old testament, but the Word of God demonstrates lessons of honor throughout both Testaments! Consider the story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5.

1 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2 With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet. 3 Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”   5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6 Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.  7 About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?” “Yes,” she said, “that is the price.”
9 Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.”
10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.   Acts 5:1-10

Jesus demonstrated honor, even living in the world system of his day. Jesus called this a trap. Isn’t it still a trap today that ensnares many?

17 Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?”
18 But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? 19 Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius, 20 and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”  21 “Caesar’s,” they replied.
Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” Matthew 22:17-21

Submission to Governing Authorities

13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.                      Romans 13:1-7

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.  1 Timothy 2: 1-2

This is a time for us to pray for healing, for unity, and for honor. The blessing of this is …”that we may live peaceful and quiet lives…” and …”that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God has given you.” Grace and Peace to all of you and God Bless you!
