The New Gate
This morning I was awakened by the Lord at 4:44 am, just as my friend Judy Guidry was awakened at the same time. She had shared that the Lord had awoken her before our previous event in the same way, and now He was awakening us both, in advance of our Worship event this Saturday. The Lord had been opening up the Gates in fresh revelation for the last couple of weeks, revisiting Nehemiah’s Gates and discovering Ezekiel’s gates, hence the increased traffic from me. But as the Lord was giving these beautiful revelations and understanding, I felt the urgency to get this out to the Body of Christ because the darkness of our days, and the critical timing of this information.
My friend Judy reminded me of the New Gate, which had not yet been unfolded. As I went back in my research to study the New Gate, I went back to the Benjamin gate. In the Second Temple, the upper Benjamin gate refers to the Temple, there is also a lower Benjamin Gate which refers to the City.
2 “Stand at the gate of the Lord’s house and there proclaim this message:
“‘Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the Lord. Jeremiah 7:2
2 he had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put in the stocks at the Upper Gate of Benjamin at the Lord’s temple. Jeremiah 20:2
Scholars believe these two gates mentioned are identical, and it is interesting to note that the people came through these gates to worship the Lord. According to my research, the third mention of this gate is referred to as the New Gate of the Temple.
10 From the room of Gemariah son of Shaphan the secretary, which was in the upper courtyard at the entrance of the New Gate of the temple, Baruch read to all the people at the Lord’s temple the words of Jeremiah from the scroll. Jeremiah 36:10
This New Gate, believed to have been rebuilt before the fall of Judah, is where the Benjamin gate used to stand and is a place where a major gathering would take place, where prophets would deliver their messages, important decisions were made and could also serve as a prison.
The New Gate, according to Wikipedia is the “newest gate in the walls that surround the Old City of Jerusalem. It was built in 1889 to provide direct access between the Christian Quarter and the new neighborhoods then going up outside the walls. The arched gate is decorated with crenelated stonework. The New Gate was built at the highest point of the present wall.” Another side note, is that this new gate is built in the Christian quarter, where the Church has authority.
Upon further meditating on the Wonder of His Word and what He was telling His Prophets, I was brought back to the Tabernacle of David. In all of the landscape of the Word, The Lord wants to rebuild one thing, the Tabernacle of David.
11 “In that day “I will restore David’s fallen shelter—
I will repair its broken walls
and restore its ruins—
and will rebuild it as it used to be, Amos 9:11 NIV
11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: Amos 9:11 KJV
I had released this information in my previous book, Unlocking Worship, and in previous articles, but now the connection was being made about the Gates and the rebuilding of the Tabernacle of David. What God was wanting to see restored in the earth was rebuilt, “as it used to be,” and …”as in the days of old.” What we have been calling Church, with our new formats, our formulas, 2-3 praise songs…transition…worship song…then announcements? was not God’s original design. I know we have to have order and structure and I am not speaking against that. But there is something supernatural God wants to reveal and unveil to His Church if we want to see the next scriptures fulfilled in this hour. The King of Glory will come in, in a new way, through ancient paths, but through a New Gate, that looks like the Old Gates of scripture.
7 Lift up your heads, you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
the Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory. Psalm 24:7-10
Our current Church culture does not look like this, but we are crying out for the Manifestations of Glory promised in the Latter House.
9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts. Haggai 2:9 KJV
The Holy Spirit is stirring the hearts of His Remnant Church, His Bride, with a holy dissatisfaction that causes our hearts to yearn for more and to ask the question, “Is this really all there is?” Are we really seeing all that has been promised in the Word and to the magnitude of the Glory promised to accompany it! Is what we are doing enough to see the Great Harvest of Souls come into the Kingdom, the Signs, Wonders, Miracles, the greater things that we shall do that Jesus promised? Is there more? For us to understand the magnitude of the Glory of the Latter House that is promised in scripture, we first have to visit the former House, Solomon’s Temple.
1 Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud; 2 I have built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.”
7 “My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 8 But the Lord said to my father David, ‘You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name.9 Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’
10 “The Lord has kept the promise he made. I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the Lord promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 11 There I have placed the ark, in which is the covenant of the Lord that he made with the people of Israel.” 2 Chronicles 6:1-2, 7-11
40 “Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 41 “Now arise, Lord God, and come to your resting place,
you and the ark of your might.
May your priests, Lord God, be clothed with salvation,
may your faithful people rejoice in your goodness.
42 Lord God, do not reject your anointed one.
Remember the great love promised to David your servant.” 2 Chronicles 6:40-42
The Dedication of the Temple
1 When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. 2 The priests could not enter the temple of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled it. 3 When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, “He is good;
his love endures forever.” 2 Chronicles 7:1-3
Are we seeing that level of Glory, so much that the priests cannot stand, and we see the tangible Glory filling the temple, and the worship that immediately responds to such an outpouring of Heaven? We see it depicted in Revelation in Heaven, but according to His Word, “Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” I believe God is going to come in His Own Way, to fulfill His Word, and to deliver perfectly on His Promises, and He will not disappoint! We have to surrender to His Ways, His Thoughts, his Blueprint of the Latter House filled with Glory! He will not add His Glory to manmade structures or programs, they cannot support the Weight of His Glory, nor will He build on faulty cracked foundations, or anything less than what He left us in His Word. For us to see what He has promised, we have to adhere to His Original Blueprints, the Glory is inherent in its Design!
Before we go any further, I see a pattern in His Word I want to highlight to you. I see the Father revealing His Plans to His Son, and His Son takes those plans and executes them. I first see that in Jesus life, “If you have seen me, you have seen the father…” I also see it in Moses’ life, he prophesied and performed Glorious miracles, and yet his “sons,” Joshua and Caleb, executed those plans. David received the blueprints for the House of the Lord, but His son Solomon, built the Temple, according to the original blueprint, the pattern God had revealed to David. So I believe we have to go back to the blueprint of scripture, to see The House the Lord wants to build, with Glory in its design, and the Glorious manifestations and wonders that will soon be displayed to the whole earth.
Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain. Psalm 127:1
So let’s revisit the express will, intention of the Father, expressed in Amos 9:11. He says, “in that day.” There is an appointed day, a time, an hour, when everything we know will change before our eyes, and it will not look like what we have become accustomed to, it will probably challenge the traditions of man we have created, the House that we have built. Will we have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to receive what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to us in this day, this time, this hour? What He has planned is far beyond our experience, our limited understanding, and according to the Word, no eye has seen, no ear has heard…
4 Since ancient times no one has heard,
no ear has perceived,
no eye has seen any God besides you,
who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. Isaiah 64:4 NIV
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV
We must be willing to change our mindset and to let go of the things we know, the ways we have done Church, the patterns that have worked for us in the past, the formulas we apply to the workings in the Church! There is something new and fresh, which will bring great refreshment and Holy Satisfaction to the longing Hearts of His Bride! But it is not a modern contemporary way, it is an ancient way, an ancient path He wants to lead us in to discover the House filled with Glory. Not by striving and working anything up, but is inherent in its design. The Lord told me as I was writing the final chapter of “Lessons From One Worship Leader to Another,” that when the pattern is right, the Glory will come! It has to! When you turn a light switch on, you expect the Light to turn on. It was designed to bring forth the Light. If it does not produce any light, then it is broken! Or possibly the wrong light switch, or the connections are faulty, or it was not installed properly! We don’t just say, oh well, the light does not work, this is all we can expect…hmmmmm! NO, we get the right light switch, we adhere to the instructions and install it correctly and make the right connections so that the Light can shine brightly! Sometimes for God to transition us and get us on the right path, he has to shake things up a bit!
6 “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. 7 I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty. 8 ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty. 9 ‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty.” Haggai 2:6-9
Are we seeing a little shaking going on? The shakings are to fill His house with Glory! He says In Amos 9, He will restore David’s fallen shelter, He will raise up the Tabernacle that is fallen. He will repair its broken walls, He will raise up its ruins. The Lord is rebuilding some old broken walls, isn’t he? He will restore its ruins, raise up its ruins, close up the breaches. And He will rebuild it as it used to be and as in the days of old. Obviously, the Lord is watching over His Word to perform it, and He is not asking us for our opinion of His rebuilding efforts. What was in that fallen Tabernacle of David that God wants to restore in the earth? There are two elements, the Glory that is seated upon the Mercy Seat, and the worshiping priesthood that ministers before the Audience of One, day and night, prepared in that Glory (a deeper revelation of this is unfolded in Chapter 6 The Keys of David, Unlocking Worship…).
11 “In that day
“I will restore David’s fallen shelter—
I will repair its broken walls
and restore its ruins—
and will rebuild it as it used to be, Amos 9:11 NIV
11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: Amos 9:11 KJV
You see, the worshiping priesthood was established by King David to minister before the Ark of Glory in that Tabernacle with teams of priests that would take their place before the Ark in worship. As one priest team finished, the next team would come in, similar to the prophetic minstrels in their ministry. They would prophesy with their instruments and their voices and stand in the breach before the Lord, outside of the limelight and onlooking adoration of the people. They performed their duties for 33 years, every year our Lord Jesus Christ lived on the earth, preparing the way in worship and prayer for His dwelling among us!
7 The priests then brought the ark of the Lord’s covenant to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and put it beneath the wings of the cherubim. 8 The cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and covered the ark and its carrying poles.9 These poles were so long that their ends, extending from the ark, could be seen from in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today. 10 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt.
11 The priests then withdrew from the Holy Place. All the priests who were there had consecrated themselves, regardless of their divisions.12 All the Levites who were musicians—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets. 13 The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang:
“He is good;
his love endures forever.”
Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud, 14 and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God. 2 Chronicles 5: 7-14
…So the king and all the people dedicated the temple of God. 6 The priests took their positions, as did the Levites with the Lord’s musical instruments, which King David had made for praising the Lord and which were used when he gave thanks, saying, “His love endures forever.” Opposite the Levites, the priests blew their trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing. 2 Chronicles 7: 5b-6
The worshiping priesthood carried the Ark of Glory to its dwelling place. Does this not look like a prophetic worship team prophesying and worshiping together to carry the Glory of God and release The Glory into its dwelling place? Selah
But then there was a sound, a sound prepared in the Glory for 33 years. A priesthood that was prepared in that Glory released a sound under Heaven, and Heaven manifested in the earth, touched ground, the Glory filled the Temple, the priests could not stand because of the intense magnitude of that Glory, and the people worshiped the Lord! That is what the Lord is after, the Father is seeking worshipers who worship him in spirit and in truth! There is nothing that we have to offer the Lord that he does not already possess, except our Worship, our Communion with Him, our Adoration, our perfected response to His Love, our love in return! Return to your First Love!
So what does this have to do with the gates? I believe the King of Glory is coming through the New Gate, through a new way, which fulfills and resembles the Gates in Scripture, both in Nehemiah’s day and in Ezekiel’s vision. The strategic warfare to build the Walls of Praise that the enemy can’t take down are being restored, the breeches where the enemy has had previous access and launched previous attacks, are being closed up. The Gates are opening around the City to receive the King of Glory. The worshiping priesthood is being assembled and prepared to Release the Sound that ushers unprecedented Glory into the Lord’s Church! The Latter House of Glory will have greater manifestation and impact than even in Solomon’s day! Justice and Righteousness are delivered through the Gates to govern and release blessing in the city! The Righteous are possessing the gates, thus possessing the City! And the Glory is being released in the city with great power, revival, awakening, restoration, the spoils of the enemy being loosed, the wealth of the wicked laid up for the righteous, the Great Jubilee, where all that has been lost, stolen, indebted, captive, shall be restored to the People of God! Inheritance and prosperity shall be released, breakthrough shall spill out with shouts of praise and triumphal shouts of Victory! Glory be to our God! We are not going out in an escape raft, we are going out in a Blaze of Glory, like Elijah and His Chariot of Fire! And His Church will be a glorious Church, Radiant, Beautiful with His Passionate Fire in Her eyes, without spot, blemish or wrinkle! How soon is the Lord Returning? Watch the Bride! She is a mere reflection of Her Bridegroom, and the closer He comes to receive her, the more radiant and glorious she becomes! Can you see the Bride in all her Glorious Splendor, walking down the Aisle to be presented to Her King, Her Royal Bridegroom? The King is enthralled with her Beauty, and the rest of the world gasps at the Glorious Splendor of the Bride! The Spirit and the Bride say Come! Come Lord Jesus Come!
And I believe there will soon be a gathering at this New Gate and around the City Gates, more to be discovered!
See you at the New Gate!
